How it works

With us, you don't pay for a server directly; you top up credit on your customer account. You book and extend your servers from that credit. With Paysafecard, the steps look like this:

1. Buy a Paysafecard - at a retail outlet near you.
2. Create a customer account. Signing up is free.
3. Top up credit and choose Paysafecard as the payment method.
4. Enter the 16-digit code. The credit is added automatically within a few minutes.
5. Order your server. The amount is deducted from your credit, and the server is ready in around 120 seconds.

After that, everything works as with any other payment method. There is no contract and no automatic renewal - what that means in detail is explained on Rent a game server without a contract.

The fee: 15 % and what that means in euros

Paysafecard is the only payment method with a fee at MainHoster.de. It is 15 % and is added on top of the amount - so your credit arrives in full, and correspondingly more is taken from the card:

For planning, that means: add 15 % to the price of your server, and you know how much needs to be on the card. For the cheapest server at €2.99 / month, that is around €3.44 from the card. A card for exactly the server price is not enough.

The fee applies per top-up, not per server and not per month. Once credit is on your account, you use it without any further deduction - for the order, for an extension or for a second server.

When Paysafecard is the right choice

• You have no bank account and no credit card. That is exactly what the card is for.
• You want to pay with cash. You buy the card in a shop and only enter the code online.
• You want to spend a fixed amount. The top-up can't cost more than the card value.
• You don't want to store payment details. You need neither an account number nor a card number for the top-up.

If you do have the choice, one of the free options is cheaper. PayPal, credit card, Google Pay and Apple Pay also add the credit within a few minutes; a bank transfer takes three to four business days. All options are listed under payment methods. Extending with Paysafecard

A server runs as long as you extend it - by 30, 90 or 360 days. Each time, you pay from your credit. With Paysafecard, it is therefore worth keeping two things in mind:

• Top up in time. There is no invoice to remind you. When the period runs out, the server is paused and deleted after a transition period. If you only buy the card on the last day, you are under time pressure.
• Leave a reserve. If some credit is left on the account after ordering, it covers part of the next extension. It doesn't get lost.

If you want to think about renewal less often, book 90 or 360 days right away. That isn't a commitment: it is just credit you use in advance.

What to know before you order

The payment method doesn't change what you get. A server paid with Paysafecard is the same as any other:

• Unlimited slots - billing is by resources, not per player.
• Web interface with console, config editor and task scheduler.
• DDoS protection up to 250 Gbit/⁠s and located in Frankfurt am Main.
• No automatic backups. You back up your saves yourself via the web file manager or SFTP.

Not sure which plan is enough? If in doubt, start small - you switch to a bigger plan later yourself in the customer interface, and you pay the difference from your credit again.
