How much does a Hytale server cost?Four plans - and why view distance costs more than any extra player

A Hytale server costs between €5.99 / month and €21.99 / month with us. We don't charge for slots; the price depends only on the resources. Three things decide which plan fits: how far your players can see, how spread out they explore the world and whether mods or several worlds come into play.

Which plan for which group?

For most groups, the choice boils down to four cases:

  • Two to four friends, vanilla: plan S. 4 GB is the minimum requirement Hypixel names for a Hytale server. With a moderate view distance, a small group runs smoothly on it.
  • Regular group of up to about eight players: plan M. This is our recommendation for the typical server among friends. The extra 2 GB absorb players heading off separately and the world growing over time.
  • Community of up to around 14 players or first mods: plan L. More players mean more loaded world areas and more creatures, and mods bring their own content into memory.
  • Large community, many mods or several worlds: plan XL. If you run a building world next to a PvP world, for example, or set up your own game modes via plugins, you need the headroom.

Not sure? Then start one tier smaller. You can upgrade yourself at any time in the customer interface, and worlds and configuration are kept.

What really drives the price

In the official server documentation, Hypixel describes two separate loads - and therefore what you are actually paying for with a plan:

  • Memory for the loaded world area. The further players can see and the more spread out they are, the more chunks the server keeps in memory at once. Four players at four ends of the map cost considerably more than four players building together at one base.
  • CPU for players and entities. Many concurrent players, NPCs and creatures put load on the processor. You notice this mainly on community servers and with minigames.
  • Mods and plugins. Every extension in the mods folder brings content that sits in memory permanently.
  • Multiple worlds. A Hytale server can run several worlds in one universe. Each runs on its own thread - so two active worlds are almost twice the work.

View distance: the cheapest lever

No other value affects memory use as strongly. Hypixel explicitly recommends limiting the maximum view distance to 12 chunks - that is 384 blocks, because a Hytale chunk is 32 blocks wide. For comparison: a Minecraft server looks 160 blocks ahead by default. So Hytale loads several times as much world around each player out of the box.

For costs, that means: before you order a bigger plan, it is worth looking at this setting. A sensible view distance can make the difference between two plan tiers without anyone in the game missing anything.

Every Java server knows one warning sign: when memory runs short, it isn't RAM use that climbs endlessly but CPU load - Java is then constantly busy cleaning up memory. If your server stutters at high processor load even though hardly anything is happening, that is often the real reason. Only then is an upgrade the right answer.

Host from the game or rent a server?

Hytale can be played with friends without a rented server: one player opens their world and the others join. That costs nothing, but it comes at a price elsewhere:

Hosting from the gameRented server
Availabilityonly while the host is playingaround the clock
Connectioneveryone depends on the host's internet line1 Gbit/s in the data center
Loadshares the computer with the gamededicated resources
Managementlimitedwhitelist, permissions, mods, multiple worlds

For a group that always plays together, the first option is enough. As soon as someone wants to keep building while the host is offline, or you want mods to run the same for everyone, there is no way around your own server.

What is included in the price

  • Unlimited slots - you set the player count yourself, at no extra charge.
  • Mods and plugins as .zip or .jar in the mods folder, uploaded via the web file manager or SFTP.
  • Multiple worlds in one universe, each with its own configuration for seed, PvP and fall damage.
  • Whitelist, ban list and permission management plus sub-users for access to the web interface.
  • Java 25, console, config editor and task scheduler for fixed restart times, plus automatic updates.
  • DDoS protection up to 250 Gbit/s, located in Frankfurt am Main, provisioned in around 120 seconds.

The Hytale server backs up the world automatically on your server. Because these backups sit on the same server, it is worth keeping your own copy for emergencies: download the universe folder and the JSON files for whitelist, bans and permissions via the web file manager or SFTP - ideally before every big update and every new mod.

Keeping costs low

Three levers that actually work:

  • View distance first. Before you upgrade, limit the view distance. Hypixel also recommends plugins that lower it dynamically depending on load.
  • Start small. You can upgrade yourself at any time in the customer interface. There is no reason to pay in advance for a community that has yet to grow.
  • Use breaks. Without a contract you only pay while you play. Before a longer break, download the universe folder and let the credit run out; for the next big update you order again and restore the world.

How billing works without a minimum term is explained on Game servers without a contract. If you want to top up with Paysafecard, you will find the details on the fee under Game servers with Paysafecard.

Frequently asked questions

At MainHoster.de, Hytale starts at €5.99 / month for plan S and goes up to €21.99 / month for plan XL. Billing is prepaid with credit, without a contract and without automatic renewal.

For two to four players without mods, plan S is enough. For a regular group of up to about eight players, we recommend plan M for €8.49 / month, because Hytale quickly uses more memory with its large view distance and players exploring in different directions.

No. We don't sell slots; you set the maximum number of players yourself in config.json. The price depends only on the plan's resources.

For a few small mods, usually not. With an extensive collection, your own game modes or several worlds, plan L for €13.99 / month is the sensible entry point, and plan XL for large communities with many mods.
