The plans at a glance
Five plans, all prepaid and without a contract. The prices come straight from our system, and every button takes you to the order with the plan already selected:
| Plan | RAM | CPU | NVMe | Price | Best for | Order |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| VPS XS | 1 GB | 1 vCore | 5 GB | €2.95 / month | Discord bot, TeamSpeak server, your own VPN | Order XS |
| VPS S | 2 GB | 1 vCore | 10 GB | €4.95 / month | small container, several bots, calendar and contacts in your own cloud | Order S |
| VPS M | 4 GB | 2 vCore | 20 GB | €6.45 / month | stack of reverse proxy, application and database; Nextcloud for everyday use | Order M |
| VPS L | 8 GB | 4 vCore | 40 GB | €9.45 / month | several stacks in parallel, development environments | Order L |
| VPS XL | 16 GB | 4 vCore | 80 GB | €15.95 / month | memory-hungry applications and many services on one machine | Order XL |
The "Best for" column names typical uses, not limits. What you run on the server is up to you - you have full root access.
What "without a contract" means in practice
The VPS is paid with credit and runs exactly as long as you extend it. That means:
- No minimum term. You book 30, 90 or 360 days. A longer period isn't a commitment, just credit used in advance.
- No cancellation. If you don't extend, the service expires on the due date.
- No automatic charges. You only pay from the credit you topped up yourself.
- No reminders and no credit check. Without invoices payable later, there is neither.
The flip side is part of it: nobody reminds you with an invoice. If the period runs out without you extending, the server expires - so back up your data beforehand. The ways to top up and how quickly the credit arrives are listed under payment methods.
Which plan for what?
The honest answer depends on the application, not on a rule of thumb. For the most common use cases:
- XS for a single service with low memory needs: a Discord bot, a TeamSpeak server or your own VPN for you and your family.
- S for one or two small containers or several bots side by side.
- M for a typical stack of reverse proxy, application and database - and the sensible starting size for Nextcloud with documents and photos.
- L and XL for several stacks in parallel, development environments or several Minecraft instances on one machine.
If you are unsure, start small. You upgrade yourself in the customer interface; the system is moved to the larger plan including operating system and data. For many projects, plan M for €6.45 / month is the point where nothing feels tight any more.
What the plan includes
- Full root access via SSH to a standalone Linux system.
- Debian, Ubuntu or CentOS - you can reinstall the operating system yourself at any time.
- Your own public IPv4 address. IPv6 is available on request via ticket.
- Unmetered traffic within fair use, without a fixed volume quota.
- Docker and Docker Compose - nesting is enabled.
- VNC console in the web interface in case you have locked yourself out via SSH.
- DDoS protection up to 250 Gbit/s, located in Frankfurt am Main, provisioned in around 120 seconds.
Automatic backups are not included. You set them up yourself on the VPS and thereby also decide on scope and retention - for example with a nightly cron job that pushes your data to an external target with rsync, Borg or restic.
Where the limits are
An affordable prepaid VPS isn't the right choice for everything, and it is better to know that before ordering:
- No custom kernel. Our VPS run as LXC containers. Your own kernel modules, nested virtualization and a custom ISO are therefore not possible. For web servers, databases, bots, voice servers and containers, that makes no difference.
- No Windows. These are pure Linux systems.
- You administer it yourself. Updates, security and backups are your responsibility. The first steps after ordering should therefore always be system updates and securing SSH access.
That last point decides more often than the price whether a VPS is the right fit. If all you want in the end is a WordPress site with a few mailboxes, web hosting is the route with less effort. And for a single game, a ready-made game server is usually set up faster.
Who prepaid pays off for with a VPS
- Projects with an open end. A bot for a Discord server, a test environment, a service for one semester. If nothing comes of it, you don't extend.
- Learning and experimenting. If you want to practise Linux administration, you need a server you can rebuild and give up again without regrets.
- Students and everyone without a credit card. A fixed amount is topped up, and the server can't cost more than that.
- Short-term load peaks. A second server for an event or a migration, booked for 30 days.
If a server will definitely run for years, on the other hand, the monthly price is what counts most. Even then you don't commit yourself with us; you simply book the longer period.
