100 % prepaid, no risk

You pay for your web hosting with credit - no minimum term, no automatic renewal and no notice period. When your credit runs out, the service simply ends. Payment reminders and dunning letters don't exist in this system.

High performance

Your websites run on powerful, multiply redundant hardware - for fast loading times even as visitor numbers grow.

NVMe SSDs

Every web hosting plan runs exclusively on NVMe SSDs. That means short response times when your website loads and saves content.

Full Plesk feature set

You manage everything in Plesk Obsidian. It includes the WordPress Toolkit with one-click installation, updates and staging copies, the Website Builder as a site builder at no extra charge, the task scheduler for cron jobs, Git integration for deployment, phpMyAdmin and all current PHP versions - switchable yourself at any time.

Made in Germany

Your web hosting runs in a renowned data center near Frankfurt am Main. That means low latency and fast access to your website across Europe.

Provisioning

Thanks to prepaid billing, your web hosting is activated automatically. As a rule, you can access and fully use it after 120 seconds.

What is web hosting?

Web hosting is rented storage space on a server where your website lives and is reachable over the internet around the clock. We operate the server - including updates, security and network connectivity. You upload your files and only take care of your content. The terms webspace and shared hosting mean the same thing.

Besides plain storage, web hosting includes databases for dynamic sites such as WordPress, email accounts for your domain, subdomains and an SSL certificate. With us, all of this is managed in Plesk Obsidian, a graphical interface that requires no Linux knowledge. The database system is MariaDB, and delivery runs via nginx with HTTP/2.

For the website itself you have two ways, both at no extra charge: WordPress as a full content management system, or the Website Builder, a graphical site builder directly in Plesk - choose a template, replace texts and images, publish. With the site builder there is no ongoing update maintenance, but you are limited to its feature set.

Web hosting is the right choice for blogs, club and company websites, portfolios and smaller shops. If you need root access and your own server software instead, a VPS is the better fit.

Frequently asked questions

Web hosting is rented storage space on a server where your website lives and is reachable over the internet. The provider runs the server, installs updates and takes care of security - you just upload your files and maintain your content. Web hosting usually includes databases for dynamic sites such as WordPress, email accounts for your domain, subdomains and an SSL certificate. Because you don't have to administer a server of your own, web hosting is the usual choice for blogs, club and company websites, portfolios and smaller shops. The terms webspace and shared hosting are used as synonyms.

The entry price is €1.99 per month for plan S with 5 GB of NVMe web storage. Above that are plans M, L and XL with 25, 50 and 100 GB. Billing is prepaid with credit: there is no setup fee, no minimum term and no automatic renewal. You only pay for as long as you actually use the web hosting.

For a classic company or club website with a few dozen pages and images, 5 GB is usually more than enough. A WordPress blog with many posts and a growing media library is typically between 5 and 25 GB. If you run several projects in parallel, maintain large image galleries or have a shop with many product photos, 50 GB or more is a good fit. Keep in mind that emails also need space - but with us, mail storage is counted separately from web storage. If in doubt, start small and switch to a bigger plan later.

Web hosting is a turnkey hosting solution: you upload files, and MainHoster.de takes care of security, updates and maintenance. Ideal for classic websites and standard apps such as WordPress. A VPS gives you root access to a complete Linux system - you can install any software (game servers, your own APIs, Docker, databases) and in return handle administration and updates yourself. Rule of thumb: if you simply want to run a website, choose web hosting; if you need maximum control or special server software, choose a VPS.

Yes. WordPress can be installed with a few clicks via the app manager in Plesk, without uploading files manually or creating a database by hand. With the WordPress Toolkit you then manage updates of core, themes and plugins, harden security settings and clone your site - for example to test changes on a staging copy first before they go live. Besides WordPress, other popular applications such as Joomla are available.

Yes, the Website Builder is part of Plesk and therefore included in every web hosting plan - even the smallest. There is no extra charge, you don't need a separate license, and the number of published pages is not limited. You choose one of over 140 templates, replace texts and images via drag and drop and publish; technical updates are not needed at all. Good to know: when publishing, the builder writes to the document root of the domain and replaces whatever is there - so make a backup first on a domain with an existing site. Builder and WordPress can run side by side, but per domain or subdomain, not in the same directory.

All current PHP versions are available. You choose which version a domain or subdomain uses yourself in Plesk and can switch at any time - that matters because modern CMS and shop systems require a current PHP version, while older plugins occasionally still need an older one. Settings such as the memory limit or the maximum upload size can also be adjusted there.

We use MariaDB, the widespread MySQL-compatible successor - applications such as WordPress, Joomla or common shop systems run on it unchanged. You manage the databases via phpMyAdmin, which you open directly from Plesk. Depending on the plan, you have 5 to 40 databases; every CMS installation uses exactly one.

Yes. Delivery runs via nginx with HTTP/2 as soon as an SSL certificate is active - and that is included free of charge in every plan. HTTP/2 transfers several files in parallel over one connection, which noticeably improves loading times, especially for pages with many images, stylesheets and scripts. We don't currently offer HTTP/3.

Backups are in your hands: with the backup manager in Plesk you can create backups of your files, databases and mailboxes yourself at any time and restore them when needed. We don't create automatic backups for you. We therefore recommend making a backup before every major update and also keeping a copy outside the web hosting - for example locally on your computer.

Yes. For switching from another provider, Plesk offers a website import and an email import that take over files, databases and mailboxes. The usual process: order web hosting, transfer the content, test the site via a preview address and only then move the domain or change the DNS records. That way your old site stays reachable until you switch over.

Since web hosting only provides storage space and the option to create databases or email accounts, you need a domain to use it fully (e.g. yourdomain.com). You can register your domain directly at MainHoster.de or point an existing domain from another provider to the web hosting.

Yes, every plan includes mail storage and a fixed number of mailboxes - from 5 GB and 5 mailboxes in plan S to 40 GB and 80 mailboxes in plan XL. Mail storage is counted separately from web storage, so large mailboxes don't come at the expense of your website. You access the mailboxes via IMAP or POP3 with any common mail program or directly via the included webmail in your browser.

After a successful order, you get from our web interface straight to Plesk Obsidian. There you create domains and subdomains, set up databases and mailboxes, manage FTP accounts, set up cron jobs via the task scheduler and activate SSL certificates. For developers, there is also a Git integration that lets you deploy projects from a repository. If you have questions or run into problems, you can contact our support at any time - in German or English.

Your data is stored exclusively in a data center in Germany in the Frankfurt area. The hosting is therefore subject to German data protection law and the GDPR, and no data is transferred to third countries. A data processing agreement can be requested via support.

No. The web hosting runs fully prepaid: you top up credit and use it to pay for the booked term. There is no minimum contract term, no automatic renewal and no notice period. If you no longer need the web hosting, you simply don't top up any more credit - payment reminders or dunning letters don't exist in this system.

Of course. You can switch between plans S to XL or contact us via support at any time. If your project outgrows the plans, we will be happy to make you an individual offer or recommend moving to a VPS.
