View plans & pricesWhich plan for which gamemode?
- Plan S for Sandbox. No round logic, few addons, ready to play. For a building evening with friends, the plan for €4.99 / month is enough.
- Plan M for round-based modes. Trouble in Terrorist Town, Prop Hunt and Murder bring their own maps, models and sounds. The plan for €7.99 / month leaves enough room for that.
- Plan L for DarkRP. Jobs, economy and a Workshop collection with many entries - DarkRP is the most demanding mode and shouldn't start on the smallest plan.
- Plan XL for grown RP servers with custom vehicles and several hundred Workshop entries.
As a guideline, 2 to 4 GB of memory for Sandbox and round-based modes and 6 to 8 GB for DarkRP with a large addon list.
What drives the price
- The addon list. Every Workshop entry is loaded at startup and sits in memory. Between ten and three hundred addons lie several plan tiers.
- The gamemode. It determines how much logic runs in every tick. Sandbox is light; DarkRP with jobs and an economy is not.
- Performance per core. Garry's Mod runs its entire game logic in Lua, essentially on one CPU core. More cores help little, fast cores help a lot - especially when a full group spawns props at the same time.
Storage grows too: a large Workshop collection takes up a lot of disk space. That is why the bigger plans come with considerably more NVMe storage, not just more memory.
The second item: FastDL
With Garry's Mod, one item belongs in every honest cost calculation, because it isn't part of the game server plan. Without FastDL, your players download all missing content over the game connection. That is slow, and anyone who waits for minutes on their first join rarely comes back.
With FastDL, the server points to a web server via sv_downloadurl, from which maps, models and sounds load quickly. Small web hosting is enough as storage - that is a separate product with its own price. For a private sandbox group you don't need it; for a public TTT or DarkRP server you should plan for it.
The Game Server Login Token, on the other hand, stays free. It is common for a publicly listed server, and you create it in your Steam account.
What is included in the price
- Every gamemode - switching between Sandbox, TTT, Prop Hunt and DarkRP costs nothing extra.
- Steam Workshop via a collection ID - the server loads the collection itself at startup.
- Full file access to the
addonsfolder via the web file manager and SFTP. - Config editor and live console in the browser.
- Automatic updates and access for co-admins.
- DDoS protection up to 250 Gbit/s, located in Frankfurt am Main, provisioned in around 120 seconds.
Automatic backups are not part of the plan. You download addons, configuration and your modes' data yourself, ideally before you rework a large addon list.
Keeping costs low
- Clean out the collection. Addons nobody uses cost memory on the server and loading time for every player. A well-maintained Workshop collection is the most effective lever.
- Don't start with DarkRP. If you get to know the server with Sandbox or TTT first, you start on S or M and switch once the RP project is ready.
- Rent by season. Many groups play TTT intensively for a few weeks and then not for a long time. Without a contract, the server expires with the credit.
- Upgrade when needed. You do that yourself in the customer interface; addons and configuration are kept.
How prepaid works without a minimum term is explained on Game servers without a contract.
