Unlimited slots - pay for performance, not per player
Many hosts charge per slot: the more friends you want to play with, the more expensive your server gets. MainHoster.de works differently - your Minecraft server has unlimited slots. You only pay for RAM, storage and performance, not for every single player.
How many players can play smoothly at the same time depends on the memory and on the type of server (Vanilla, plugins or modpack) - not on an artificial slot limit. Plan L with 8 GB RAM easily carries a mid-sized community, where slot-based hosts often charge a hefty surcharge. You will find the right amount of RAM in the table further down.
If you want to, you can still set your own limit with max-players in server.properties - for example to keep your server deliberately small. The decision is yours, not your plan's.
Unlimited slots means
- No surcharge per player
- The limit is RAM, not your plan
- Set your own limit with max-players
- Prepaid, no contract
- Upgrade or downgrade any time
1-click modpack installer
You pick modpacks, mods and plugins straight from CurseForge and Modrinth in the panel - the matching loader (Forge, Fabric or NeoForge) and all dependencies are set up automatically. If you prefer to do it by hand, you can also upload any pack - including packs from the FTB App or Technic - via SFTP or the web file manager. That keeps you completely free in your choice of pack.
| Modpack | Recommended plan | RAM | Source |
|---|---|---|---|
| All the Mods 9 (ATM9) | Plan L | 8 GB | CurseForge |
| All the Mods 10 (ATM10) | Plan XL | 16 GB | CurseForge |
| RLCraft | Plan L | 8 GB | CurseForge |
| Better MC (BMC) | Plan L | 8 GB | CurseForge / Modrinth |
| Create: Above and Beyond | Plan M | 4 GB | CurseForge |
| Vault Hunters | Plan L | 8 GB | CurseForge |
| SkyFactory | Plan M | 4 GB | CurseForge |
| Pixelmon | Plan L | 8 GB | CurseForge / Modrinth |
| Feed the Beast (FTB) | Plan L | 8 GB | CurseForge / FTB App |
Guidelines for stable TPS with several players. Large packs like All the Mods 10 benefit noticeably from more RAM.
How much RAM does my Minecraft server need?
Memory is the most important factor for Minecraft - it decides how many players, chunks, entities and mods your server can handle at the same time. The table below gives guidelines by player count and server type (Vanilla, a server with plugins on Paper/Spigot, or a modpack):
| Players | Vanilla | Plugins (Paper/Spigot) | Modpack |
|---|---|---|---|
| up to 5 players | 2 GB (plan S) | 3-4 GB (plan M) | 4-6 GB (plan M/L) |
| 5-10 players | 3-4 GB (plan M) | 4 GB (plan M) | 8 GB (plan L) |
| 10-20 players | 4 GB (plan M) | 6-8 GB (plan L) | 8-12 GB (plan L) |
| 20+ players | 6-8 GB (plan L) | 8 GB (plan L) | 16 GB (plan XL) |
Rule of thumb: better choose a little more RAM - a server that runs out of memory stutters or crashes. You can upgrade at any time without losing data. Prices for every plan are on What does a Minecraft server cost?.
Supported Minecraft versions
You can host every common version of the Java Edition - from old classics to the current release. You choose and change the version in the web interface; snapshots are supported too. For Bedrock players, crossplay can be set up on a Paper server with Geyser/Floodgate.
Show full version list
Intermediate versions (for example 1.16.1 to 1.16.5) are available as well. Modpacks bring their matching Minecraft and loader version automatically.
Minecraft server software & editions
You do not have to commit to one server software up front: you switch between Vanilla, Paper, Spigot and Purpur later in the game server panel under Server type with one click, without losing your world, version or plugins. Even switching between Java and Bedrock happens there - in that case as a fresh installation with an empty server. What each option is good for:
Paper
High-performance plugin server (Bukkit/Spigot compatible)
Spigot
Bukkit plugins on a fast Paper foundation
Forge
Large modpacks: ATM, RLCraft, Pixelmon & co.
Fabric
Lightweight & fast, plus NeoForge/Quilt
Bedrock
Console, mobile & Windows - plus Java crossplay
Modpacks
1-click from CurseForge & Modrinth
Network
BungeeCord & Velocity - several servers
Everything your Minecraft server can do
Every server type
Set up your server step by step in the panel: Vanilla, Paper, Purpur, Folia, Fabric, Forge or NeoForge - including automatic version selection. Large modpacks like ATM, RLCraft or Better MC are available too.
Switch server type in one click
You switch between Vanilla, Paper, Spigot and Purpur yourself - no ticket, no waiting. World, Minecraft version, plugins folder and server.properties are kept, and you follow the progress live. A Vanilla server that should run plugins? One click, and Bukkit/Spigot plugins work. You can also switch to Bedrock and back there - as a complete reinstallation that deletes all files.
1-click modpacks
Install modpacks, mods and plugins from CurseForge and Modrinth directly in the panel. The matching loader version (Forge, Fabric, NeoForge) and dependencies are set automatically - and you can extend everything via SFTP (Feed the Beast, Technic and Quilt too).
Console in the web interface
Control your server right in the browser: live console for commands like op, whitelist or gamemode, start/stop/restart and real-time log output - no separate client needed.
Online config editor
Edit server.properties, MOTD, whitelist and other config files directly in the web interface - no download needed. All important settings in one place.
Web file manager & SFTP
Manage worlds, plugins and mods in the browser with the web file manager or with an SFTP client. Upload your own world, take backups, swap files - full control over your server.
Restart scheduler
Set fixed restart and task times - for example at night when nobody is playing. That keeps large modpacks running smoothly and reliably frees up memory.
Fixed server address
Every server has a fixed address made of IP and port. Your friends connect directly with IP:Port - visible in the panel at any time and with a clean entry in the server list.
High performance
Hardware with strong single-core performance - the deciding factor for stable TPS in Minecraft - and fast NVMe SSDs make for smooth gameplay, even with large worlds and complex modpacks.
DDoS protection
Our DDoS protection filters attacks of up to 250 Gbit/s - important, because public Minecraft servers are regularly targeted by booter attacks.
