How much does a Palworld server cost?Price factors, sizing and the alternatives

A Palworld server costs between €7.99 / month and €26.99 / month with us. That makes Palworld one of the most demanding games in game server hosting - the developer recommends 16 GB of memory for larger groups. This guide explains why the requirement is so high, what the price depends on and when your own server is worth it compared to a co-op session at all.

Why Palworld is so demanding

Three characteristics make the difference:

  • A persistent world with many actors. Pals keep working on bases even when nobody is watching - that costs computing time permanently.
  • High memory requirement. Pocketpair recommends 16 GB for larger groups. For small groups of up to about four players, 8 GB is enough.
  • A known memory leak. Usage grows while the server is running, which is why scheduled restarts are a fixed part of operating it.

On top of that, Palworld is strongly limited by single-thread performance. Besides enough memory, performance per core matters most - more cores help little.

What drives the price

  • Memory - the dominant factor, directly tied to the planned group size.
  • CPU performance per core - decides whether the game feels smooth with a full group.
  • Not the slot count - slots are unlimited with us.

With us, Palworld servers start from €7.99 / month; the full range of plans is on the product page.

Compared to other games, Palworld sits in the upper range, right next to Rust and DayZ.

The plans at a glance

What the memory requirement means in practice is shown by the plans themselves. The figures come straight from our system and match the plans on the product page. The buttons take you to the order with the plan already selected:

PlanRAMNVMePriceBest forOrder
Palworld S6 GB25 GB€7.99 / monthsmall group of friends, budget entryOrder S
Palworld M10 GB35 GB€12.99 / monthactive group of around ten playersOrder M
Palworld L16 GB45 GB€18.99 / monthlarge group, reaches the 16 GB recommendationOrder L
Palworld XL24 GB60 GB€26.99 / monthfull 32-player world with many basesOrder XL

The "Best for" column describes what the plan is designed for, not a slot limit - slots are unlimited with us, billing is by resources, not per head. The step that matters is plan L: only there is the 16 GB mark named by Pocketpair reached. Everything below is deliberately the entry point for a small group; everything above buys less extra players than extra room for what the group leaves behind in the world.

Too little memory shows up immediately as stuttering, so if in doubt the larger tier is the safer choice. A wrong decision still doesn't get expensive: moving up is possible at any time, and world and configuration are kept.

Co-op session or your own server?

Palworld can also be played in co-op without a rented server - with clear limitations:

Co-op sessionDedicated server
Availabilityonly while the host is onlinearound the clock
Player countstrongly limitedmuch larger groups
Performanceshared with the host's gamededicated resources
Settingslimitedfull PalWorldSettings.ini
Progressstored with the hoststored on the server

The most important point is the first one: in a co-op session, nobody can keep playing while the host is offline. As soon as several people want to play at different times, there is no way around your own server.

An existing co-op world can come along: upload the save folder to the server via SFTP or the web file manager.

What is included in the price

When comparing offers, it is worth looking at what comes without a surcharge and what stays in your hands. Included with us are, among other things:

  • Automatic updates - we install new Palworld versions without you having to touch SteamCMD.
  • Schedulable restarts in the web interface - the only reliable answer to the memory leak.
  • Config editor and full file access for PalWorldSettings.ini, mods and saves.
  • Console and RCON for management in the game and from outside.
  • DDoS protection up to 250 Gbit/s, 1 Gbit/s uplink and located in Frankfurt am Main.
  • Provisioning in around 120 seconds after payment is received.

Backups stay in your hands: they are self-service throughout via the web file manager or SFTP. And it stays prepaid - no contract, no automatic renewal, no notice period.

When your group takes a break

Palworld groups rarely play evenly. A few very intense weeks are often followed by a break until the next content update. That is exactly where the biggest cost lever lies - and it is rarely used, because many don't want to give up their progress.

  1. Before the break, download the save folder via the web file manager or SFTP - Level.sav, LevelMeta.sav and the Players folder.
  2. Let the credit run out. The server then ends by itself, no cancellation needed.
  3. To return, order a server and restore the backed-up world.

It takes a few minutes in each direction, and progress is kept completely. If, on the other hand, you keep the server running for months out of worry about the world, you pay for weeks without a single player. Two caveats: the address made of IP and port is different on the new server, so you share it with your group again - and without your own backup, this approach doesn't work.

Keeping costs low

Three approaches that actually work:

  • Size honestly. A group of four doesn't need 16 GB. Plan for the group that really plays.
  • Use prepaid. Palworld sessions are often intense and short. Without a contract you only pay while you play - see Game servers without a contract.
  • Schedule restarts. Because of the memory leak, they keep the server stable - and save you from throwing a bigger plan at the bottleneck.

What you should not save on: backups. They are self-service, cost nothing but a few minutes and can save all your progress when it matters.

Frequently asked questions

Because of its high memory requirement, Palworld sits in the upper price range, comparable to Rust and DayZ. With us it costs between €7.99 / month and €26.99 / month; the full range of plans is on the Palworld product page.

Because of the resource requirement. Pals keep working on bases even when nobody is watching, and the developer recommends 16 GB of memory for larger groups - several times what a vanilla Minecraft server needs.

For a fixed group that always plays together, co-op is enough. As soon as people want to play at different times, you need a dedicated server - in a co-op session nothing happens without the host.

No, slots are unlimited. The price depends on the server's resources, not on the number of players.
