Joining a Palworld server on PC (Steam)
On a Windows PC via Steam, you have two ways to join a dedicated server:
- Start Palworld and choose "Join (dedicated server)" in the main menu.
- Use the community server list and search for your server by its name, or
- enter the IP address and port (default: 8211) directly to connect without a detour.
- If a server password is set, you will be asked to enter it afterwards.
You will find your server's IP address and port in our web interface under the server details.

On Xbox (and in the Microsoft Store version for Windows), open the multiplayer area in the Palworld main menu and choose the server list. Search for your server there. Make sure your client uses the same Palworld version as the server - otherwise the entry does not appear.
Joining a Palworld server on PlayStation 5
Palworld has been available for PlayStation 5 since December 2024. Joining works the same way as on Xbox, via the multiplayer area and the server list in the game menu.
Reading address and port correctly
Your server has a fixed address made up of IP and port. Both details are shown in the web interface under the server details and always belong together - the IP alone is not enough, because several servers run on the same IP. Only the port tells the game which of them is meant.
In the join dialog, you enter both on one line, separated by a colon: 123.123.123.123:8211. The default port 8211 is only the game's preset - what counts is exclusively the port shown in your panel. Anyone who copies the default port from a guide instead of reading off their own reliably ends up nowhere.
It is best to pass the address on to your friends as a ready-made line to copy. That saves the most common question of all, and it prevents transposed digits.
Common problems when joining
- Server not visible: check the game version and connect directly via IP.
- Connection refused: wrong password, or the server is currently restarting.
- High ping: our servers are located near Frankfurt - low latencies can be expected for Germany, Austria, Switzerland and the rest of Europe.
Two cases are worth a second look because they are often misinterpreted. If everyone gets disconnected at the same time, it was almost always a restart - either a scheduled one or one after an update. Wait two to three minutes and try again before you change any settings. If, on the other hand, a single player cannot get in while the rest are playing normally, it is down to their client or their connection, not the server.
And if the server is missing from the list even though it is running: check whether the value for public visibility is set in PalWorldSettings.ini. A server that is deliberately not in the community list can still be reached by entering IP and port directly - that is even the usual way for private groups, see Whitelist & password.
If the error persists, the detailed guide Fix connection problems will help.
First join: what to do next
The first time you connect, the server creates a character for you - your single-player progress does not come along automatically. If you want to continue an existing world, transfer it beforehand as described in Transfer a world. After that, the first step is usually to give yourself rights via the AdminPassword, so that you can manage players and control the server from inside the game - that is covered in Become admin.
